Poor man dro?

Has anybody tried the mouse version of a "poor mans dro" featured at "http:=

I´m experimenting a little but it seems to me that an ordinary microsoft mo=
use
has to little resolution to be of any use. It´s a simple matter to gear it =
up, but
then the backlash probably becomes a problem. Is there a smart
workaround? I was thinking of making a bigger encoderwheel but don´t have
a dividing head/table. Is it possible to laserprint an encoder wheel on OH=
-
film?
