Congratulations on your purchase. It is a fine machine indeed.
Not sure how much you want to assemble yourself versus having a turnkey
and ready to run system? I can provide all the parts you need as can
some of the other list members. I offer the DenverCNC controller box
which is a complete 4 axis stepper controller with built in power
supply, e-stop, and 2 switched 110 VAC outlets which you can use for
spindle and another computer controlled device. It used the Xylotex
control boards and everything is pre-wired so is just plug and play. I
also sell Mach1/Mach2 Control software licenses and DeskCNC software and
proprietary control cards. Details on all of these are on my website.
Regarding using a larger motor on the Z axis, the answer is maybe. I
have my Taig 2019CR set up with ~114 oz/in motors on X and Y and a ~210
oz/in motor on Z. I am really not sure if it gives increased
performance. The larger motor has a higher inductance then the smaller
ones so it's maximum RPM is lower. I have not tried putting one of the
smaller motors on the Z, but my guess is that the stall would be at
about the same maximum rate.
