The actual E-Stop button is simply a normally closed pushbutton (or a
normally open one depending on how you plan to implement it). You would place it
into a control power circuit in series with the "start" pushbutton which is
parallel to the latching contact on a relay. This relay would have several
contacts and you can use one of them to notify the control software that an E-stop
has occurred. If you wish, contact me off list at the E-mail below and I will
send you a sample schematic of just such a circuit. If you have the pin-outs
for the drives and the control / software I can also tell you how to configure
the contacts on the relay.

I hope I can be of help.
