Yup PDP's were the industrial control platform back then. All sorts of
boards were made for them for I/O. I have seen inside of a few old CNC
control boxes and there was a PDP rack, of course the builder had there
own machine controller software running on Unix. Humm that sounds
familiar, like PC-EMC-Linux. The more things change the more they stay
the same.
