Thank you all for the input and am now thinking a little more
seriously about buying a lathe for a CNC conversion. I have two size
requirements for threading lipe for my lighting company.
1. 1/2" dia. aluminum pipe 1/4 IPS 3" long and 5" long with 1/2"
threads "20 TPI" on one side and about 3/8" on the other.
2. 1/8 IPS up to 9"-10" long with 5-6 threads only on one end. I
think this will maybe also be in aluminum. Right now I am using brass
and not sure the strength will be enough.
I will have two gecko 320's, one amatek servo motor, for hardware to
start.
Which make or model should I purchase? I want a small desktop
version and as inexpensive as possible as I don't think I'll use it
for anything else.
