For 2D linkage simulator check out MechSoft for AutoCAD.

I work at a CAD dealer in Malaysia, and we recommend this product for
similar role. Also have check out the gear design module (part of
AutoCAD add-on), it's amazing, it not only draws a gear but it designs
them as a pair, with strength checks.
