Steve,
The controller program on your PC should be configurable as to which
Par Port pins do what to match the inputs to the stepper driver (L297).
See the L297 Spec sheet at ST Micro for connection info, but the card
connector you have is what determines the actual connections.
The PC par port is only supplying bits and a ground.
The driver card has to have its own power supplied for logic only
(could be from the PC game port).
The step signals may begin or end high or low in any pulse train sent.
