Wow! With the exception of the head, the RF-45 looks a lot like the one
sold briefly by Grizzly a year or so ago. I am retrofitting on of them to
CNC and have milled the ways for clearance to install Turcite in all 3 axis.
I have an AHHA stepper system that I'll use to turn some 3/4" Nook
ballscrews. I have a Baldor invertor rated motor and a Hitachi VFD to run
the spindle. I have replaced the spindle bearings with some ABEC-7 spindle
bearings so I can run at 10,000 RPM.

Seeing the RF-45 conversion makes me all the more anxious to complete my
conversion. It is mostly apart right now, I'm getting ready to glue the
Turcite in place. If any pictures of a particular stage of the work would
be helpful to anyone, please let me know. I have a digital camera and could
put the pics on the onelist site with the rest.

Thanks for the inspiration, Dan!!!
