The film imaging place I mentioned is Precision Digital Imaging
(http://www.precisiondigital.com/) and they will guarantee .001" accuracy
over a 19.6 x 25 inch area. That is a lot of DRO strips... I have used
their services for photoetching artwork and their films are indeed very nice.

Standard phototypesetting resolution of 2540dpi is actually a metric
resolution (2540/25.4=100 dots/mm), so DRO scales based on sub-mm divisions
would come out, if anything, more even than interpolated inch scales
(though I'm a GOA and would still have the ultimate readout in Standard
Inches...) :-)
