1000 dollars for a programmable 3hp drive sounds like way too much money to me

I bought mine from a branch of CEF in the UK for 135 GBP (~200 dollars)

have a look on ebay.com ... one of the manufacturers (Mitsubishi IIRC) has a
direct outlet for those sort of prices ... theres even a Telemecanique
Altivar, like mine except 5hp for 125 dollars, new.
