need advice on building a CNC system

I'm planning to build a CNC mill and would like to receive advice
from some experienced people.
The mill will be used in my home shop to do prototyping work. I've
researched the Grizzly machines (I live about 20 miles from the PA
facility) and decided that I will probably use the G6760 or G9901
mills based on table size / travel. Both of the mills are similar in
design to a Bridgeport, but the 6760 is a bit smaller.
The mill will mostly perform 2 1/2D machining, but I would like to
have the ability to also do 3D contouring. I will be cutting a wide
range of materials including steel, aluminum, plastics, and wood.
Most of my design work is performed using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor,
and Rhino 3D. I need some suggestions on the best software to use for
converting these formats to G code.
I would like to be able to hold tolerances to .001" / in.
I have some manual machining equipment and can fabricate motor
mounts, brackets, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian
