Great to hear! I ordered the 6.5 amp version which apparently is still
overkill!

I have three machines so far: a Sherline mill, a Sherline lathe, and a
Techno-Isel gantry table. I set the Xylotex board up for each and
monitored the current of the 24V input to the board, both with the
motors still, and running all three axes at the maximum rapid speed that
currently works with each machine (no cutting load involved, but I think
the main load is frictional anyway on these little machines due to the
small cuts
used.)
1. Sherline mill. Three SST257D3201 motors, 3.2V, 2.0A (the ones
Sherline sells). Leadscrews 20tpi--32,000 steps/inch in 1/8 stepping
mode. Drive set at 2.0A. 1.43A input with motors still, 2.83A on a
3-axis 20ipm move.
2. Sherline lathe. Two Vexta PH268-21 motors, 5.4V, 1.5A. Leadscrews
20tpi--32,000 steps/inch in 1/8 stepping mode. Drive set at 1.5A. 0.95A
input with motors still, 1.45A on a 2-axis 10ipm move.
3. Techno-Isel gantry table. Two HL2100M473030 motors (Techno's part
number--I would need to open the motor housings to find the manufacturer
and their own part number), 4.0V parallel, 1.0ohm (X,Y), one
HL2100M473040 motor, 4.8A parallel, 1.0ohm (Z). Ballscrews 4mm
pitch--10,160 steps/inch in 1/8 stepping mode. Drive set at 2.5A. 1.34A
input with motors still, 2.30A on a 3-axis 60ipm move.
The 8.5A power supply seems a little bit of overkill for all three
machines!
