Okay,
Here's "the plan"
I have sent funds off to www.crankorgan.com for John's "the brute" a
small self built CNC mill, "the pooka" a small 4th axis, and his "the
piker" driver.
I am going to first build the piker, and place into an old compaq rack
mount chassis to test the motors
then i'll build the brute (with a roto zip) to make my brackets and
frames (out of alum) with a 1/8" carbide mill, to mount on my frejoth
lathe, that will become CNC (i am getting one with ruined threading
gears, why not?)
If possible, I'll use the pooka 4th axis for making a model for a
bridgeport gear... see, they make a speed gear for the "off" sides of
BPs, that i may want to copy... besides, 4th axis is cool.
After I have the lathe CNC'ed, and the brute running, i'll get very
serious about retrofiting a series II BP with boss controls...
I already have the g9729 largish lathe/mill/drill from grizzly to help
me out along the way, and a radial drill press to help some of the
"interesting" drills and taps on the frejoth.
should take me 4 to 6 months to be done with the brute, piker, and
lathe... then I can "worry" about the BP...
what do ya think? and I don't think it'll cost a ton to do, until I
start buying geckos
