Nope. The "forward" diode will drop the voltage 0.65 V or so. Several in
series would drop it some multiple of that.

The "reverse" diodes would cause the driver voltage to RISE 0.65V above the
DC supply voltage. So, it WON'T hold the voltage below the DC supply
voltage
when energy returns from the motors.
