Hi All,
PMDX is finally ready to release the
PMDX-150 stepper motor drivers that
we have shown prototypes of at earlier
shows. The PMDX-150 single board concept
has been repackaged as single axis boards
and a motherboard.
Key features are:
Based on the Allegro A3977 microstepping chip.
Current from 3/4 amps to 3 amps (with fan cooling).
Current set by dip switches.
Step pulse polarity is dip switch selectable.
Auto idle current reduction, with dip switch enable.
Opto-isolated step, direction, and fault signals.
Step and direction are ground referenced and designed for
easy drive from laptop or motherboard printer ports.
The opto-isolators do not need a 5 volt power source.
Single motor power supply voltage, no logic supply needed.
On board, self resetting fuse.
On board power supply filter capacitor, no external
capacitor needed when using long power leads.
Over-temperature shutdown and lockout.
Overvoltage protection for spikes and back EMF.
Protection against spikes from unplugging motors with power on.
Push button test to run motor without computer.
LED to indicate activity and fault conditions.
Seperate pluggable terminal strips for motor and interface.
Designed to allow panel mount with direct motor connecter access.
Supports micro-stepping and step multiplication.
Eight micro-step, A3977 native
Quarter micro-step, A3977 native
Half step as 4x multiplied eight micro-step
Full step as 4x multiplied quarter micro-step
Priced at $65.00 each, limited quantities available at
the Cabin Fever show. Full production in early February.
A motherboard/power supply, the PMDX-130, is available to
simplify wiring and packaging. Key features are:
Holds up to four PMDX-150 boards.
Has Centronics style parallel port input connector.
Allows mounting of input connector and motor connectors
directly though your panel.
Accepts 12 to 24 volts AC and converts to DC suitable
for powering PMDX-150 boards.
Alternate version available for use with PMDX-120 if
you populate the 20 pin ribbon jack for the step/dir
outputs of the PMDX-120.
Provides interface signal when any PMDX-150 faults or
if power is removed by shutdown or emergency stop.
Provides power for DC fan.
Pricing to be determined, available early February.
We will also be showing a complete boxed unit at Cabin Fever.
It has a case, motherboard, PMDX-150s, power transformer,
switch/circuit breaker, emergency stop switch, a fan, and
an accessory outlet controlled by the emergency stop switch.
Pricing to be determined, available early February.
PMDX and the Chesapeake Area Metalworking Society will be
supporting a CNC demo area at Cabin Fever. We expect several
CNC mills and a CNC lathe to be up and running. There should
be examples of TurboCNC, EMC, and Mach2 on display.
Looking forward to seeing you there. Please forgive me if
I do not respond to questions until after the show, as I
will be working from now until then to be ready for the show.
