Lathe Conversion

I have casually been looking for a lathe for cnc conversion or at least
something salvageable for one. Found a cnc lathe station at a local machine
shop. A TRE about 12 x 36" full enclosed and set up with servo's.
Electronics are old and nonfunctional built about 1980. Balance of the
machine is fully functional and in good condition.
It appears to me this might be a viable project. Normal problem large
machine limited shop space. However, I can fit it in! Do you have any
thoughts or comments on the electronics' conversion?
