A standard, but very small, straight screwdriver is good. Jeweler's
screwdriver sets should have one that fits well.

If it only squeals in one spot, that may indicate a bad encoder, or at
least one that has a spot where the encoder signal is unstable.
Actually, the
damping control may be more important.
