Newby on everything - what do I need?

I am a complete (almost) neophyte with regard to actual CNC hardware. I
have a Bridgeport Series II CNC mill in which the original 3 stepper
motors(belt driven) and limit switches have been removed (but I still
have them) for manual operation. I don't have any power supplies, or
other parts related to the CNC. I don't have a clue what I would
need to restore to CNC operation; software (I have a laptop with
Windows 98 installed, or I could build a dedicated computer with
WinXP), some sort of stepper motor drivers (compatible with the old
stepper motors?), power supplies, etc.? I would appreciate any advice,
or point me to an archived post that has already answered these questions.
I guess one of the first questions is what are the power requirements
for the original steppler motors, and is it worth using them?
Since this machine is used for hobby projects, I would want to do this
as inexpensively as possible.
