Has anyone re fitted a bridgeport series 1 cnc machine.

I have a r2e3 cnc and cannot get the boss 8 controller to work correctly so it looks like I am gunna have to repoace the controller

....has anyone any ideas of the best approach etc of tackling such a job ??
