well, i have a Xylotec controller and size 23 steppers (bipolar) supplied by
the ever helpful guys at Simply Cnc, and have a "Cobra" style mill fully
cnc'ed up with it and i must say it flys along and is perfectly capable of
both rapid router type work and is happy to chew its way through cast iron,
steel, alloy etc at a lesser rate of knots ( faster actually but that gets
expensive in endmills!).
I suggest you speak to the guys at Simply Cnc Tel 01292 311377, they have
already worked around the sort of problems you may encounter.

Nick

(I am nothing to do with Simply Cnc , just a satisfied customer)
