3 or 4 years ago , and they have come a long way I'm sure ) but the
reason I have Geckos on all 4 of the machines in my shop is because they
WORK !!! I can't tell you many hundreds ( yes hundreds ) of hours I
spent fighting to get CNC to work years ago .
As soon as you learn how to hook one up you will look at everything in
your shop and think I could do that with another stepper !
The only difference in the 201 & 210 is a step multiplier board in the
210 that will allow you to drive your stepper motor with fewer pulses
from the computer . A 200 step motor will require 2,000 pulses from the
computer to turn 1 revolution with a 201 ( it's called micro stepping )
the 210 will only require 200 pulses because there in a multiplier board
inside ( it can also be set to several other resolutions between 200 and
2,000 ) .
The Geckos will also drive the larger motors ( up to 6 or 7 amp ) if you
want to change motors or machines some day .
