CorelDraw will run an HPGL (hewlett packard graphics language)
plotter. What would it take to have the router understand HPGL?
The plotter looks like an x y axis router with a pen for the z axis.
the router runs off step and direction signals for a stepper motor
router. The HPGL would probably only be useable in the router
for light duty work (the pen is very light duty).

Dave: You cannot simply export a bitmap into a vector format (DXF) in
Corel or any other draw/paint program. While CorelDraw is a vector
drawing program, and you can import a bitmap to display on the screen
the only thing that will export in DXF is vectors you draw or import
from another vector format. You can select the bitmap in CorelDraw to
Trace but all it does is open up CorelTrace. The results you get from
Corel Trace can be anything from usable to horrible for CNC work.

There are other bitmap to vector conversion programs but they all
struggle with giving you something you can use to cut in CNC. In the
end the best way is to start with a vector format and end with one
that has closed objects and continuous lines.
