jEdit also does this, and runs identically on any platform. It's got
decent regex support and you can add syntax hightlighting with some
simple XML. I managed to hack up a syntax definition for basic HPGL in
a few minutes. The only downside to jEdit is that there are so many
options that it's a little hard to wade through all of them. It also
requires a functional Java installation.
