Certainly, I've seen some ordinary DC motors of good quality design
that have worked very well as servo motors. But, I also have run
across some DC motors that clearly would have made poor servo
motors. Some of them had magnetic cogging that was awful, others
had torque or velocity ripple that was quite easily detected with a
battery and my hand.
