  To see if the wires are 2 for motor and  2 for tacho:
spin the motor by hand , each pair will output a dc voltage
if the guess is true. if two are heavier gauge, then they're the
motor. Try to note the pairs and polarities. If you have a known
motor and can run it at 1000 rpm, it could spin the unknown motor
shaft and you could find the V/1Krpm of the tacho.
