Does the dir voltage change when you change the jog direction for that
axis? It certainly should. Where are you getting the +5 from? Do you have
two parallel ports? Is it possible you have hooked the Gecko drives to the
wrong parallel port? Are these Gecko 201, 210, 320 or 340? It makes a
difference, as 210 and 340 drives can be set for common positive or
common negative. You probably want common positive, like the G201 and
320 always use.

Is the breakout board an active one (ie. it has chips on it)? If so, do you
have the power supply connected correctly for it?

The voltage on the step term should change when you jog, also.
