Yes, because the two emitter/detector pairs are offset by "90 degrees" (1/4
the width of one optical stripe). One stripe blocks one pair first, then a
little distance it blocks both pairs, turns a little more and only blocks the
2nd pair, and finally after turnning a little more, it dosn't block either pair.
The cycle then repeats with the next stripe.
