um... yes and no.

There is at least one person on here who has opened the motor and cut
the leads to make a 6 wire motor an 8 wire motor. (not me)

Of the few that tried, there are fewer who have been able to put it
back together and get it working. And even fewer of those find they
gained anything at all.

There is a supposed 3% gain in power from parallel vs. single coil.
I seem to recall Mariss did a series of tests on such motor. did a
power test on a motor, then took it apart and reassembled it then re-
tested.

I know the claim is that you automatically lose a signifigant amount
of motor power when you allow the magnetic fields to be interupted by
dissasembling the motor, but I cannot remmber if Mariss proved that
to be true or false.

One repetitive warning is that any touching of the rotor to the
stator offers chipped magnetic pieces and those can be destructive to
the motor if not removed entirely.

So, the answer is that although it is theoretically possible, the
chances of you doing it are very slim. The chances of ruining the
motor are pretty high.

If you need more power, get a bigger motor. If you do the math, 3%
is hard to see any gain in the motor.

I would be inclined to believe you can get more than a 3% gain from
reducing friction in your machine.
