The timing of the direction signal relative to step pulses is critical for
all step/direction drives. I think the Gecko step multiplier has a timing
requirement that is different from most other drives. The G201 drive
used to have the same requirement, but the G201A changed it to
be more relaxed. I think the old G201 and step multiplier boards
needed the direction signal to stay at the same level it was at during
the step pulse for up to 20 uS or more after the step pulse. The G201A
only requires it to set up a microsecond before and hold a microsecond
after the step pulse.

This has caused problems with many sources of step/direction signals,
and I had to put a special mode in my universal stepper controller to
accomodate this requirement.
