Hi Russ,
Is this 44VDC with no load? Most power supplies will drop quite a bit
with a small load. Putting a resistor (say 100 ohms, 20W) or a light
bulb across it may well drop the voltage below 40V. On my bridgeport the
power supply will rise to about 85V on no load but it sits at about 75V
with 3 Gecko drives attached to it.
