Satellite dish actuators

Anybody have any experience using satellite dish linear actuators in a
CNC system? They seem like they could be a cheap alternative to more
expensive precision actuators, especially if you can get them cheaply.
I'm thinking that I might be able to find some with burnt out motors for
use in my hexapod, but I don't know how hackable they are or if there
are any other drawbacks.
