I have retrofitted a similar machine, did you ask them what they had done
about backlash in the Quill drive, or if they had fitted Ballscrews or at
least adjustable feednuts on the X and Y axis.
I had to make adjustable nuts and recut the feedscrews down to 3/4"
dia,
I have text/ drawings of this if you require them.
