I checked out the pictures at Rich's link. I am still confused on
the Z axis conversion of these mini mills. How do you deal with that
much backlash?
Are they just drilling holes and are not that concerned with Z
lash? The Z on my mill gets a double dose of error. Once through the
worm, then once trough the rack and pinion to the quill. Plus alot of
the import worm gears are really not "true" inch (according to HSM
article) which can cause error to propogate.
Don't get me wrong, I thought the pics were great, I just want to
get more accuracy out of Z.
