There was a discussion about it whaile back that I missed. In one of
the machining magazines there was an article desribing it.

It's sounds like it is a anti-backlash scheme using pieces of the same
threaded rod 120 degrees apart surrounding the outside of the screw
to act as a nut. My guess so far without researching. There's a .jpg
picture in either files or photos sections.
