Hi Dave,
I tried both Gecko and Rutex drives on my mill (the Geckos are actually
for another project). The drives have similar ratings but the Geckos are
slightly easier to wire up and cheaper. The Rutex drives are quieter,
run cooler and can be tuned to give slightly better transient response.
Of the two I prefer the Rutex drives but there isn't much in it.
I think the IMSERV package is everything you need, including motors and
power supply. If you buy just the drivers and motors they are actually
quite good value. I don't know if they would be beefy enough for your
plasma cutter though. They are aimed more at Sherlines and similar machines.
