Re: TDK CD printer for printing on "solids"

Anyway I have ordered a CD printer to give it a go.

In the mean time I have been able to make the relevant patterns in
the following way.

Print pattern onto paper with a laser printer. Stick a piece of
plumber's PTFE/teflon tape over the print out and run it through the
printer again. You now have the pattern printed on the teflon, the
first print was for alignment. Cut it out but leave the paper on
the back or it may stretch. Put it face down on the sample and
iron. For bulky objects like steel heat the object and press the
tape on firmly. This melts the toner onto the object.

Allow to cool and peel.

This is essentially how the press and peel PCB system works and is
also done with inkjet photo paper in the laser printer. However the
results with the teflon are better than either. The technique is
not mine but was told to me by a fellow modeller.

Works good for (small) PCB etching BTW.

Cheers,

Graham
