Bob,
I read your comments about the MPG on
CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO@yahoogroups.com.
Would you give me your recommendations on how you
would accomplish this task?
I was going to use US Digital components to build a
MPG system, if I understand everything right, that
would allow movement of a servomotor.
1. Start with an encoder
2. Attach a hand wheel
3. Send the output through an encoder resolution
divider (EDIVIDE) to allow adjustments in the pulse
per inch ratio as necessary to make the system
accurate with movement of the hand wheel.
4. Send the encoder resolution divider signal through
a step & direction converter (EPOT).
5. The output of the EPOT along with the Mach 2 system
would be connected to the same Gecko.
6. One hand wheel for each machine axis.
The reason for this is, my sons boss had a very bad
stroke. It left his right side very weak. He has been
a racecar engine builder for 35 years. Many of his
machines could be converted to CNC, but it would
impractical to convert others. Converting the others
to a controlled movement system that could be operated
with his weak hand would be of great benefit.
Please offer your thoughts on this need.
