What I wanted that MaxNC slide for...

I didn't really think I'd find an unused MaxNC XY slide assy here, just
had to ask though. Ended up taking the Z slide off mine and setting it
up on my Clausing engine lathe to turn some copper parts.
http://www.prototype-design.com/MaxMods.htm is the link to my MaxNC page
where I posted a couple pics of it setup on the lathe.
Using 16 pitch acme screws, BS&A ActiveCam nuts, 198 oz/in PacSci
motors, Compumotor OEM 650 drives, Ahha software.
1" dia copper is really pushing it for the Max slides, it'd take
.040/pass at 1800rpm, but took it down to .030 and upped the feedrate
for the same overall run time. There was a high pitch vibration
generated that loosened the gibs, had to retighten frequently.

Nice thing about this is, I can set it up on the lathe in just a couple
minutes, answering my immediate need for XY slides, and giving me time
to do my lathe CNC attachment with nice linear rail bearings and ball
screws.
