Do not confuse a 5 wire stepper with a 5 phase stepper. A 5 wire stepper is
a 4 coil stepper with one wire from each coil connected as common internally
and can only be run in unipolar mode. A 5 phase stepper has 5 coils and 10
wires, 2 for each coil. Fujitsu Limited made these and they were used on
some ICON controllers on some of the Wells Indexer machines. I suppose some
one may have made a 5 phase stepper with 6 wires, one for each coil and one
internally connected common but I have never seen one.
