  Hi,
Before getting my Bridgeport I owned a Taiwanese Mill/Drill. The machine was bench mounted and not so heavy that it couldn't be moved. The point I'm making is that it wasn't the noise but the vibration that penetrated through the building. If one went down-stairs to hear what was going on it sounded like it was going to come through. The problem was cured by mounting the machine on foam-rubber. The rubber compressed down to almost nothing so the machine was still stable but the noise/vibration became acceptable.
Are the problems with AR contagious, I was there last year and have relatives who live there full time :-)
Regards,
Terry
