There is no reason it should not work. If you still have troubles,
ask on the TurboCNC group.

build your 'first' machine with the parts you have. it will be fun,
and a learing experiance and you'll have a small unit that can help to
make parts for the bigger machine.
Even if all it can do is start a 1/16 hole in metal, you can then take
that to your drill press and put in the bigger holes in the proper
location.
Then, sell the machine on e-bay and buy the bigger motors with the $$$
