The G202/G212 is available for sale in limited quantities starting
today, May 25.
The G202/G212 is the same as a G201/G210 except:
1) The G202/G212 has short-circuit and motor disconnect protection.
You cannot hurt the G202/G212 with miswired motors, motor cable
shorts to ground, winding to winding shorts, shorted motor windings
or disconnecting the motor while under power. The G202/G212 will go
into protective shutdown, timeout 2 seconds, then try again.
2) No external 470uF/100V cap is needed; it is internal now. The
drive is .625" wider to accomodate it.
3) No special heatsinking is required even at 7A. New 36A-rated
MOSFETs are used that have 1/4 the heating of the ones used in the
G201/G210.
4) Power-on reset. The G202/G212 resets to "microstep 0" after power-
up. No more need to send 2 step pulses to initialize the drive.
There are 150 finished drives. We will have deep stock (>1K units)
and user manuals in 30 days. Until then please use the G201/G210
manual. They can be ordered on-line from www.geckodrive.com when our
website is updated in a few days or call 1-714-771-1662, fax 1-714-
771-4867.
All drives have had the 4 motor outputs shorted to ground 2 times
each at 7A and 80VDC. The motor outputs have also been shorted A to
B, C to D, A to D and B to C 2 times each at 7A and 80VDC. This is
16 hard short-circuits while operating at max limits for each drive.
All drives have had all 4 motor outputs disconnected 8 times at 7A
and 80VDC (this ruined four 25A SPST contactor type relays due to
contact arc erosion).
The G202 is $134 for 1 to 99 units, $119 for 100 or more.
The G212 is $168 for 1 to 99 units, $149 for 100 or more.
