Hi David:
I assume you want to create the cavities on the inside of the ring.
This makes it a job that can only be realistically done a couple of ways.
One would be to set the job up on a rotary table, mount a right angle head
into a VMC and write the code as if you were doing a roll engraving job,
then do an axis swap to get the geometry oriented correctly for the mini
horizontal spindle.
Another way is to burn the shapes into the inner wall with a CNC sinker EDM.
This would require electrodes to be made and most likely, a sinker with C
axis capability.
Rolling the ring blank is not a great idea...it should be cut from billet
because it will be the devil's very own to get it to stay round if you roll
it and then machine it.
A third way is to split it into segments that can be machined
conventionally, and then join them with a sleeve around the outside.
