Hi,
I thought Brown & Sharpe was an American company? I wonder why they are
using a Whitworth thread profile and not UNC.
I have just acquired a Cincinnati #2 tool and cutter grinder and have to
make up ends to mount my collection of grinding wheels. At this stage I have
no idea what the taper is or thread pitch. the machine is an American design
but manufactured in Birmingham, England before we metricated. The machine is
also on my list to fit with CNC so that it can surface and cylindrical grind
as well without me needing to stand in front of it turning handles.
Regards,
Terry
the machine with the conversational control. I just finished a project for
a fellow club member. The job was to make a Brown and Sharpe worm thread,
3.775 OD, .875 pitch, 55 degree included angle and the final touch is that
it is a left hand thread. None of our manual lathes will gear down that
far so it was a CNC job.
After a lot of head scratching and a moment or two of sheer panic and the
job got done.
