And although Carken likes to sell the DeskNCRT with another
one of thier programs, Carl says they will sell it individually for
$90.

I have finally tried the new deskncrt with the Camtronics Inc (that's me)
Dro board and wow! It works like a poor man's servo system.
I'm impressed!
It turned out that setting up the stepper motor encoder feedback was
fairly easy. Simply plug the DRO PCB into the PC. Connect the DRO board to
the stepper motor encoder .
Configure the software for encoder feedback.
I have to admit that I needed a bit of help from Carl at Deskam to
configure
the Min_output/Max_output. But within a few minutes after sending a email
to
Carl, I got the info I needed.
I ran a file called seahorse.tap three times. and with a pair of pliers
cause the motor to stall several times. When It finished the file the motor
was back at the original location.! I tried it three times with identical
results.
Be aware that this is not a panacea. The motor ended up at the start
location . As I cause the motor to stall the speed increased to recover so
I
am not sure what the part would have looked like on a real machine. If the
motor could not recover then I would get a following error message and the
motors would stop until reset. But it looks really promising.
Deskncrt look like a diamond in the rough. It really looks like it has
great
potential. The encoder feedback combined with the 150+ lines of look ahead
together wilt all the G codes that it runs makes this a slick program.
If you have tried it d/l a demo copy from www.deskam.com and check out his
other programs while your at it. For those interested in the dro board my
web site is www.seanet.com/~dmauch
Are there others that have tried the encoder feedback with deskncrt or EMC?
