Rob, There has been much discussion about reduction when using steppers and it seems the concensus was 1:1 ratio for steppers was the best. No reduction.
Comparing one timing belt to another, SDI or stockdriveproducts "sdp-si.com" has PDF's on their site that compare them all in graphs. The HTD looks like the best belt for high torque application in respect to their size.
I use L series 3/4" width on both of my Bridgeports however according to the aforementioned documents the HTD series are about twice as strong and 2/3 their width. If I read it correctly.

Hi All,
I'm in the process of CNC'ing a ZX7045 mill and just needing a little
help in working out the pulleys to use for the Z axis.
Have changed to 3/4" .2 ball screws on all axis.
Driving X and Y using servos with a 3:1 ratio.
Have a 1200 oz/in stepper for the Z axis.
What would be a suitable ratio and pulleys "L XL HTD GT2" to use on the
Z axis?
Thanks, Rob
