Extreme CNC

A customer of mine, (Chuck McGee charlesfmcghee@...
http://www15.brinkster.com/candgresearch/ ), asked me to check out
his 6 axis stepper control box. Talk about extreme CNC!. If you
check out his web site you will see why he needed 6 axis. He did an
oustanding job of laying out the 6 G201's mounted on two sets of my
G201 heatsinks (XYZABC), three receptacles for spindle, flood and
mist motors, 2 Sound Logic ver 1.6 breakout boards, a relay board,
front panel XYZABC power switches, relay board power switch, XYZ
stepper motors output enable switc, ABC output enable switch, ABC
ouput current setting switches selectable for various currents
stpper motors, and last but not least two remote teperature gauges
that monitors the XYZ and the ABC G201 dual fan cooled
heatsink.Additionally, He used ampernol connectors on the back panel
for reliable connection of the stepper motors to the drivers.
While Chuck is a machinist by trade, he has vast knowlege and I was
surprised at what a great job he did of wiring the beast. The only
problems I found during construction were that the 470uf caps on
each drivers and the power supply bleed resistor was missingfrom
the 36V25A power supply I provided. During checkout I ran into a
problem with the Ver 1.6 Sound Logic boards. JCullins was really
helpful and after a few emails determined that R11 a 10K resistor
may need to be changed to 120K. I changed them out and then using
Mach2 and the Tigerdirect PCI 2 parallel port cards succeffully
tested all the features of his control box.
If interested I can email you pictures off line.
