Hello,
Stmicro has a single axis development board you can get for the
asking through an app engineer at the company. Last time I called,
they were in Schaumberg, IL. (Tom Hopkins)
Paul Jones at CNConabudget.com has some layouts for 297/298 boards.
AIRC, Hans Wedemeyer's site has one also.
I think Luberth (Cstep and/or hobby plotter) or Majosoft also has a
board.
There are others; this has been a longstanding popular chipset. Try a
yahoo search on "L297 L298 PCB"
