Shumaim,

Research here at this forum in the files section and look at all the links. Decide what type of CNC work you wish to do and the type of machine you would need then research in that direction. I would suggest Mach3 CNC software as it is probably the most user friendly and will run on a Windows system. There are alot of other good softwares as well. If you have any questions just ask.

There are typically 4 basic components to a CNC system:

PC/software - Runs the software and issues step and direction commands

Breakout board/interface - Ditributes the step and direction commands to each axis. Some systems are ran without this but it involves alot of wiring management issues.

Servo or Stepper drives- Receives low voltage step and direction commands in the form of pulses from the breakout board and issues high current step and direction commands to the servo or stepper motors.

Servo or stepper motors- Each connected to an axis that results in the actual machine motion.
