As long as the topic has come up I'll throw in my $.02 worth.
After trying several different camers, we determined we would only
buy one which had a optical view finder in addition to the lcd.
We bought an Olympus 450Z this winter and are very pleased with it. The
optical veiw finder serves for 99% of my shots. I use the lcd only for
close-ups. We also have the Flashpath floppy adpater which allows
us to download the pictures from the Smart Card using the floppy
drive on our computers. The 8mg smart card will hold 1, 36, or 120
images depending on the resolution. The battery life has been very good.
At ~$500 the 450Z is about in the mid-price range.
If I ever get my web site seup I will post some shop images.
